Rules of the service

Terms of Use

Current beta scope: clearly labeled practice opponents are available; real-member matching is not yet available.

These Terms are an agreement between you and CHESSDATING.COM LLC, a Florida limited liability company (“ChessDating,” “we,” or “us”), which operates ChessDating.com.

Eligibility and acceptance

You must be at least 18 years old, legally able to enter a contract, verify your email, and successfully complete the required Stripe Identity adult check to use ChessDating.com. Existing and new accounts are subject to the same verification policy. By creating or continuing an account, you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Community Guidelines.

Your account

Provide accurate information, including date of birth and identification submitted to the secure verification provider; maintain one authentic personal account; protect your credentials; and promptly report unauthorized access. You may not create an account for another person, impersonate anyone, evade a block or suspension, submit altered or stolen identification, or use automated account creation.

Each person may use only one account and one identity document. ChessDating may create a non-reversible, secret-keyed fingerprint of a verified document number solely to detect reuse without storing the raw document number. Reused, stolen, altered, or mismatched identity documents may be rejected and associated accounts may be suspended pending review.

Profiles and user content

You retain ownership of content you submit. You grant the service a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, process, display, resize, moderate, and distribute that content only as needed to operate, secure, and improve the service. You represent that you have the right to submit the content and that it does not violate law or another person's rights.

Conduct

You may not harass, threaten, stalk, discriminate, defraud, solicit illegal activity, share non-consensual intimate content, sexually exploit anyone, communicate with or depict minors in a sexual context, promote violence, spam members, scrape data, or bypass safety and privacy controls. Detailed rules appear in the Community Guidelines.

Chess and fair play

Do not use chess engines, outside assistance, automation, account sharing, rating manipulation, intentional disconnect abuse, or other unfair methods during rated or represented games. The service may review suspicious play and restrict game access.

Connections and offline safety

ChessDating.com does not conduct a guarantee of identity, intent, compatibility, background, or safety. Use judgment, protect personal information, keep early conversations in the app, meet in public, tell someone your plans, arrange your own transportation, and contact emergency services if danger is immediate.

Moderation and enforcement

The service may review reports and content, limit profile visibility, remove content, end conversations, cancel games, suspend or terminate accounts, preserve evidence, and cooperate with authorities when reasonably necessary. Not every report will result in the outcome requested, and safety decisions may be confidential.

Reports do not cause an automatic ban merely because they were submitted. Trained review, corroborating evidence, severity, prior verified violations, and attempts to evade enforcement may be considered. After a human verifies a severe violation, or after verified repeated violations, ChessDating may restrict the account and privacy-preserving network, device, payment, or identity signals associated with it. Members may use the appeal process unless law or an active safety investigation limits disclosure.

Terms acceptance and changes

You must affirmatively accept the current version of these Terms and the Community Guidelines before publishing or updating a profile or contributing user content. We may require renewed acceptance after a material change. Continued access alone does not replace an acceptance step when applicable law requires affirmative consent.

Subscriptions, single-game purchases, and billing

During the current beta, Core membership remains free and includes up to 3 hosted practice games per day with clearly labeled bot opponents. Real-member matching is not yet available. After those free practice games are used, an eligible member may make a non-renewing, non-transferable purchase for exactly one additional hosted practice game. The Stripe Checkout page shows the exact owner-approved price, currency, and applicable taxes before payment. A single-game purchase does not renew, does not create a subscription, and does not buy human-member access, messages, favorable placement, or different safety treatment.

An unused single-game purchase does not expire at the daily quota reset. It is consumed when the secure service issues the member a server-side reservation for the selected opponent. Hosted profile reveal and chat require that authenticated account's completed reservation; changing device-local game state does not create access. Once a reservation is issued, leaving, disconnecting, abandoning, or choosing not to finish the game does not restore the purchase, except where ChessDating confirms a service failure or applicable law requires another remedy.

ChessDating Plus is an optional recurring subscription that currently unlocks unlimited hosted practice games and adds clearly identified convenience and personalization features; it does not provide real-member matching during this beta. Web subscriptions are processed by Stripe and renew automatically until canceled. You may cancel or update a payment method through the secure billing portal in Settings; cancellation stops future renewals and Plus normally remains available through the end of the paid billing period.

To request help with an unused single-game purchase, contact support before using it. A refund, reversal, or dispute revokes any unused game credit. A game already consumed by a server reservation is generally not refundable, except for a confirmed service failure, a checkout error, or rights that cannot legally be waived. Taxes, subscription refunds, trials, promotions, failed payments, and any legally required cancellation or refund rights are handled according to the terms shown at purchase and applicable law. Native-app purchases, when offered, are billed and managed by the applicable app store under its rules.

Production checkout uses Stripe's live payment system, and a charge occurs only after you explicitly confirm the displayed purchase or subscription in Stripe Checkout. Stripe processes the full card details; ChessDating does not receive or store full card numbers or card security codes. Any separate test environment will be clearly labeled and will not collect a real payment. The service may correct billing errors, reject suspected fraud, or suspend or revoke paid benefits after a failed, refunded, disputed, or reversed payment.

Account deletion

You may initiate deletion in Settings or through the web deletion request. Some limited records may be retained when legally required or reasonably necessary for fraud prevention, safety, disputes, or enforcement, as explained in the Privacy Policy.

Service changes and availability

Features may change, pause, or be discontinued. The service is provided on an “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. These Terms do not limit a consumer right that applicable law does not permit us to waive. If a new region or feature requires additional terms, we will present them before that use.
