Your data and choices

Privacy Policy

Current beta scope: real-member matching is not yet available. We will update this policy before enabling a materially different data practice.

CHESSDATING.COM LLC, a Florida limited liability company (“ChessDating,” “we,” or “us”), operates ChessDating.com for adults to create dating profiles, play chess, and communicate after a game. This policy explains the information the service collects, why it is used, and the choices available to members.

Information we collect

Age and identity verification

Stripe Identity performs the production document, live-capture, and matching-selfie checks. Supported passports, national identity cards, and driver's licenses can be used where Stripe supports the issuing country and document type. ChessDating.com receives the Stripe verification-session reference, status, timestamp, and limited failure information. After a successful check, the secure service reads the verified date of birth only to determine whether the member is at least 18; it does not store that verified date. To prevent one document from creating multiple accounts, the service creates a secret-keyed, one-way fingerprint from the verified document number, issuing country, and document type, then discards the raw number. Raw government-ID images, document numbers, barcodes, face images, and biometric templates remain with Stripe and are not stored in the ChessDating.com application database. Stripe's handling of verification data is also described in Stripe's Privacy Policy.

How we use information

Photos, profiles, and messages

Full opponent profile content is returned only after the secure service confirms an authenticated, completed match reservation. Hosted messages are tied to that reservation and are visible to conversation participants; they may also be accessed by authorized safety personnel when reported, required by law, or reasonably necessary to prevent harm or enforce policy. Do not post sensitive information you do not want another member to know.

Sharing

Information may be shared with hosting, authentication, storage, analytics, moderation, communications, customer-support, and payment providers acting on our behalf. Stripe receives the account reference, email address, identity-verification data, and transaction details needed to operate Stripe Identity, process web subscriptions, and provide its secure customer portal. Information may also be shared with authorities or safety organizations when legally required or necessary to address serious harm, and as part of a business transaction subject to appropriate safeguards. ChessDating does not sell personal information or use sensitive dating-profile information for third-party behavioral advertising.

Retention

Account and profile data is retained while an account is active. In-app deletion removes the hosted profile, preferences, quota and match-reservation records, hosted bot-chat messages, direct billing and verification-account references, and the Firebase login. Device-local photos and match history are also cleared. Secret-keyed document fingerprints are de-identified and may be retained to prevent identity reuse. Verified safety decisions, processor payment records, and limited records may be retained longer when reasonably necessary for fraud prevention, safety, dispute resolution, legal obligations, or enforcement.

Your choices

Members can edit profile details, manage photos, block or report another member, stop a conversation, sign out, and initiate account deletion inside Settings. Approximate location is optional: you can leave distance set to Any distance, clear the saved approximation at any time, or revoke permission in browser or device settings. Distance is an estimate and may be inaccurate near boundaries. A web deletion path is also available at delete-account.html.

Adults only

The service is intended only for people age 18 and older. Accounts reasonably believed to belong to minors must be removed. Reports involving child sexual abuse or exploitation must be escalated according to applicable law and platform requirements.

Security and international use

The service uses encryption in transit, access controls, secure authentication, limited report rate controls, and privacy-preserving one-way network signals for verified safety enforcement. Raw IP addresses are not stored in the safety-enforcement tables. No system can guarantee absolute security. Where applicable law requires safeguards for an international data transfer, we use an appropriate legal mechanism.
